Floods in Jammu and KashmirAfter suffering massive loss during the devastating floods in 2014, the farmers of Jammu and Kashmir are now reeling under the brunt of state government’s apathy.

Reportedly, local government authorities have released compensation with the amount ranging between Rs 47 and Rs 378.

This was just a day after Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said he would not take rest until flood-hit farmers are provided relief.

"I will not rest till all those affected by the deluge of 2014 are provided relief by the government," Mufti Mohammad Sayeed told media.

Farmers are feeling cheated and now plan to take out protest march against the state government.

2014 floods was the worst flood in last 60 years, where hundreds of people were killed and led to massive destruction. Torrential rain that started on September 2, 2014 submerged most parts of Srinagar several feet under the water.

As per the official data, River Jhelum was reported to be flowing 1.34 meters above the danger mark in Srinagar, while it was 10 meters above danger levels at Sangam in Anantnag district. River Chenab was also flowing above the danger levels.
