Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh gearing up for Pre Monsoon showers

March 3, 2020 9:08 AM | Skymet Weather Team

During the last 24 hours, parts of Bihar and Jharkhand have observed isolated rains. Light showers were also seen in one or two pockets of Odisha. These rains were due to a Confluence Zone that has been persisting over the eastern parts of the country for the last many days now.

According to Skymet’s meteorologists, isolated showers are possible in parts of Jharkhand and Odisha during the next 24 hours.

Thereafter, an East-West Trough is likely to develop from West Uttar Pradesh up to Gangetic West Bengal which will trigger more rains. In addition to this Trough, the humid winds from the Bay of Bengal will increase the moisture concentration. Thus, the weather activities are expected to increase in Jharkhand, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal on March 4 and 5.

Further on March 6 and 7, East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar may get to see light to moderate rain with one or two intense spells. Chances of hailstorm activities cannot be ruled out. In fact, this would be the first good spell of pre-Monsoon activity for the entire region.

Amidst rains, the day temperature is likely to drop by 2-3 degrees Celsius. A significant fall is also likely in the maximums of some of the eastern states.
