Jhansi has received extremely heavy showers on Tuesday. Usually this region in Uttar Pradesh does not receive very heavy showers, even during the Monsoon season.
Jhansi has received 123 mm of rainfall during the last 24 hours. This is the all-time highest 24-hours rainfall for the city in July.
In the last 10 years, Jhansi had recorded the highest 24-hours rainfall on July 22, 2014 (68.7 mm). Moreover, the all-time highest monthly rainfall for Jhansi is 356 mm. This is the rainiest month for Jhansi when the city observes about 270.4 mm of rainfall on an average.
This July, Jhansi has already received 324 mm of rainfall. Therefore, achieving the all-time highest monthly target will not be an ordeal.
The present spell of rain in Jhansi is due to the cyclonic circulation over West Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas of Rajasthan. The Western Disturbance lying over Jammu & Kashmir will interact with the cyclonic circulation over Madhya Pradesh, restraining it from moving further eastwards. Therefore, Jhansi and adjoining areas will continue to receive some rainfall over the next few days.
