Since last many days, Monsoon showers of varying intensity continue to swamp most parts of Bihar and Jharkhand. At present also, situation remains favorable for more spells of rain and thundershower activities.
In the span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Jamshedpur recorded 30.3 mm of rainfall, followed by Ranchi 12.9 mm, Bokaro 12.6 mm, Daltonganj 7.6 mm, Chaibasa 4.6 mm, Patna 4.5 mm, Forbesganj 3.3 mm, Bhagalpur 2.8 mm, Supaul 2.4 mm and Muzaffarpur 0.2 mm.
According to Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation has developed close to Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas of Jharkhand. Also, the axis of Monsoon trough is seen passing from Gujarat region up to Northeast Bay of Bengal across Bihar.

Due to these weather systems, the intensity of rainfall is likely to increase over Bihar and most parts of Jharkhand during the next 48 hours. Fairly widespread light to moderate showers along with few isolated heavy spells cannot be ruled out over Bihar and adjoining areas of Jharkhand.

As on July 19, Bihar and Jharkhand are rain deficit by 5% and 26%, respectively. After 24 to 48 hours, Bihar and most parts of Jharkhand will witness light to moderate rains with few heavy showers at one or two places.
With these rains in offing, pleasant weather conditions are likely to persist during the day but mornings and evenings will remain humid over both the states.
