September 13, 2023 1:19 PM |

The extreme northern parts of the country have not seen intense rainfall activity as such. Moreover, the Monsoon trough has been close to the foothills, and the systems are not reaching these areas thus rains have been less.

However, areas close to the foothills have seen good rains. In fact, the foothills of Kashmir have also seen rains. Jammu which lies in this region has received a good amount of rain in the last 4-5 days. In the last 24 hours, the city recorded 36 mm of rain while the day before, Jammu saw 83 mm of rainfall.

Thus, total rains have been recorded at 174 mm against the normal of 144 mm. This means that Jammu has easily surpassed the monthly mean in less than two weeks.

Rains during these times were also heavy on some occasions in association of the Monsoon trough. However, rains have not been widespread.

Now also, for the next 3-4 days, we can expect some rains, particularly between September 13 and 17, which will increase the monthly rain amount even further.
