Jammu has been observing heavy showers since last 24 hours. During last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, Jammu has recorded a whopping 107.2 mm rainfall.

This is, in fact, the second-highest 24 hours rainfall for the city in last 10 years. Highest 24 hour rainfall in a decade was observed on August 25, in the year 2012 when the city witnessed rain of 129.3 mm.

These heavy showers recorded in Jammu last day can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation which was over South Punjab and the Western Disturbance which was passing through Jammu & Kashmir.

Other districts of Jammu & Kashmir have recorded moderate showers. During the above said time span, Bhaderwah has recorded 21.6 mm rains, while Batote had observed just 1 mm of rain. Moreover, nearby areas of Pakistan such as Sialkot also observed hefty showers of 92 mm while Jhelum observed 47 mm in last 24 hours.

As iterated by Skymet Weather, another Western Disturbance persists over northern parts of Pakistan and adjoining Jammu & Kashmir. Hence, few more rainy spells over the area are also expected in another 24 hours. Thereafter intensity of rains will once again decline significantly and the next spell of rains over Jammu and nearby areas are expected around August 7 or August 8.
