During the last few days, the sky conditions remained overcast over the western Himalayas. These clouds even resulted in light to moderate rain in scattered places over Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. While Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh have recorded light rains at isolated places. Also, the higher reaches in these states are reported to receive some snowfall.
These weather conditions prevailed due to the presence of a cold Trough and a Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir. As these systems, are moving away east-northeastwards, hence weather conditions will be improving after next 24 hours.
The upper reaches of Ladakh and eastern parts of Jammu and Kashmir may receive short spell of light rains during the next 24 hours. Otherwise, weather is likely to remain dry over most parts of rest Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Later, Ladakh region will also become dry. Clouds will reduce significantly. Hence, day temperatures are likely to rise while night temperatures will decrease considerably. Temperatures will remain very cold during the early morning hours. Days will become cool over upper reaches of the hills. While days will be comfortable over the southern parts of these states.
Night temperatures will also follow a decreasing trend during the next two to three days over the western Himalayas. So, Winters are all set to clench northern hills as soon as the weather systems fade away.
