Hilly states of North India are once again gearing up for a short spell of rain and thundershowers. According to Skymet Weather, a fast-moving Western Disturbance has approached the Western Himalayas. Therefore, we expect rain and thundershower activities to commence over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the next 24 hours. Snowfall activity may also occur over the higher reaches of all these states.
However, as this Western Disturbance will not persist for a long period, weather activities will start clearing up from Jammu and Kashmir March 26 onwards. But still few parts of Himachal Pradesh and many parts of Uttarakhand will continue to receive isolated rain and thundershower activities till then.
Places like Kullu, Manali, Shimla, Lahaul & Spiti, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Una, Nainital, Uttarkashi, Badrinath, Kedarnath, Haridwar, Dehradun, Srinagar, Pahalgam and Pulwama will receive rainfall activity. In wake of these weather activities, the maximum temperatures would fall by 3˚C to 5˚C and minimum temperatures will fall by 1˚C to 2˚C across the Western Himalayas.
Thereafter, the weather system will move away eastwards and weather conditions over the hills of North India will clear up.
The system has also induced a cyclonic circulation over the northwestern plains and a trough is extending from this circulation up to western parts of Uttar Pradesh. Therefore, we expect isolated rain and thundershowers in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, North Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh.
