The weather system that is persisting over Rajasthan is giving good rains over the state. An upper air cyclonic circulation can be seen over West Rajasthan in particular. This weather system has given some extremely heavy rains over the state especially in Jaisalmer and Kota.
From 08:30 AM on Saturday till 05:30 AM today morning Jaisalmer has recorded a whopping 90 mm of rainfall. Similar is the case with Kota which received 96 mm of rains in the span of 21 hours.
The fact is, it is still raining heavily over the region, especially over Jaisalmer. The incessant rains can be attributed to the active cyclonic circulation over the region. This weather system is likely to give some more moderate to heavy rains for another 24 hours.
The highest rainfall recorded in the span of 24 hours over Jaisalmer was 95 mm in 2013.
Already good rains were going on over Rajasthan and Gujarat and these rains are only going to improve the situation. There were two cyclonic circulations over the state of Rajasthan, one over Southwest Rajasthan and another over Southeast Rajasthan. Both these cyclonic circulations have merged into one which is giving heavy rains over the state.
