After paralyzing a few districts, rains decreased over Rajasthan and the heavy spells that caused flooding was taken over by light showers. From the last couple of days, most districts of Rajasthan had been recording light spells only.

After witnessing submerging rains, the weather of the desert state has now become almost dry. The districts such as Jalore and Mount Abu that were inundated under flooding rains are now experiencing very light rains. Most of the southern and central region of the state has just managed to witness moderate to heavy rains. While the northwest districts such as Churu and Sri Ganganagar recorded some moderate spells.

In fact, rains reduced drastically in the last 24 hours as well. Within the span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, Churu recorded heavy rains of 69 mm, Sikar 10 mm, Mount Abu 6.8 mm, and Jaipur witnessed light spells of 0.5 mm only.

The reason for these rains as per Skymet Weather can be associated with the northward shifting of the axis of Monsoon trough. Until yesterday, the trough was running via Sri Ganganagar towards the eastern parts of the country. However, now this trough has shifted further north and is at present running from the northern parts of Haryana via Karnal to East India.

In the wake of this, rains are expected to reduce over the state. Though scattered rains may continue for another 24 hours particularly over the northern districts of the state such as Churu, Sri Ganganagar, Bikaner, Sikar, and Jhunjhunu. Thereafter, the weather will become almost dry.

However, these isolated light rains will not affect the mercury levels much. The maximums that were resulting in pleasant weather conditions till now are also likely to rise again. Partly cloudy sky with bright sunshine will lead to sultry weather conditions.
