Indore is one of the few cities of Madhya Pradesh that has been observing active Monsoon conditions since the last week of July. Although, the intensity has gone up and down over the city, on and off rains continued to make an appearance. And since the last one week, light to moderate rains have been lashing the city. Now, the showers are expected to turn intense and isolated heavy spells are likely which could create some traffic havoc.
The first ten days of August did record some heavy showers, however, a significant decrease in the intensity was observed thereafter. But Monsoon is once again ready to turn active over the city and thus will give enhanced rainfall activities during the next two to three days.
Today, the showers would be mostly scattered only. By tomorrow, showers may turn heavy at isolated places and a similar condition would be seen on August 24 as well.
During this entire rain episode, rains will not be as heavy as to trigger floods or waterlogging, however, traffic havoc cannot be ruled out.
These rains would be a result of the Cyclonic Circulation over the Arabian Sea, which is feeding moisture in the city. Moreover, northerly winds due to Low-Pressure Area over Southeast Madhya Pradesh are creating a Confluence Zone, thus making the conditions favorable for rains.
Thus, good spells are likely in Indore until August 25. Thereafter, the activities would decrease not only from Indore but from most parts of Madhya Pradesh.
