The deadly Zika Virus has been spreading its wings across the world at a very fast pace. The World Health Organisation has already declared the disease as a global public health emergency.
The alert issued by WHO has kept Zika in the same category as Ebola. So far, Brazil has been the worst affected nation by the outbreak.
Zika is carried by special breed of mosquitoes known as Aedes Mosquitoes.
It has also warned several tropical countries including India to remain on high alert.
Will warm and humid weather expose India to Zika Virus?
The weather conditions in tropical countries including India are quite conducive for the spread of the virus.
In India, the thick of winters have almost made an exit. With this, day temperatures will now rise and so will the humidity levels.
Warm temperatures and humid conditions are conducive for the spread of the Zika Virus. Right from Peninsular India to Central India, temperatures are settling between low 30s and mid 30s. While day maximums across North and East India are also showing the increasing the trend.
As we proceed further, weather will be warmer and further increase in moisture level is likely, providing a potent ground for the breeding of Zika virus.
Under such circumstances, prevention is the only cure against the breeding of Aedes Mosquitoes. The symptoms for the deadly virus are almost similar to that of dengue.
However, no case has been reported yet in the country.
