Interior Peninsular India is the hottest pocket of the country at present. Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Interior Karnataka and even few parts of Maharashtra are witnessing high day temperatures for the past few days.
Maximum temperatures over most parts of these states are settling in the range of high 30s to early 40s. Moreover, no respite is likely ahead during the next couple of days as mercury will continue to soar.
According to Skymet Weather, the rising trend of the day temperatures is normal over these areas during this time of the year. Though they are above the normal average temperatures by only 2-3 degrees but this difference also makes much impact.
The region has entered into the pre-Monsoon season, during which we can see a north-south trough moving across Peninsular India. This trough is a semi-permanent feature that keeps oscillating from east to west and activate and deactivate from time to time.
Earlier in this week, this trough was running across the interiors of the region up to Tamil Nadu across Telangana, Rayalaseema, and Interior Karnataka. This has also given some isolated rain over few parts along the trough line.
Now this trough has shifted westwards, leading to significant decrease in the weather activity over the region. As a result, hot easterlies travel more over land, becoming drier that resulted in rise in day temperatures.
Let us have a look at the maximum temperatures recorded across the region during last two days.
