Pockets of interior Peninsular India that comprises of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka continue to be the hottest pocket of the country. In the absence of any weather activity, day temperatures have been settling in mid 30s for the last several days.

The hot pocket is also extending up to the parts of Maharashtra, where Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra regions have been reeling under the same weather conditions.

According to Skymet Weather, increased day temperatures are the result of exit of winters, while the pre-monsoon activity is yet to make an appearance over the region. February has been mainly dry with not even a single rainy day.

Another reason can be attributed towards the warm winter this season. Unlike every winter, the country has witnessed exceptionally above normal temperatures during thick of the season.

Generally, interior parts of Peninsular India witness hot weather during this every year. But since the day temperatures had been already high till now, mercury has soared further and are now settling above normal by 3-5 degrees.

According to Skymet Weather, no relief is likely in the coming week as well. No significant weather is in sight to affect the region.

Let us have a look at the maximum temperatures recorded across the region on Wednesday.
