The South Peninsula has been receiving fairly widespread rainfall for the last couple of days. It’s the time of the year when this part of the country receives good showers.
At present, there are several weather systems affecting the region. The low pressure area over Eastcentral and adjoining Southeast Arabian Sea has intensified into a well-marked low. We can see a North-South trough across the Lakshadweep region. And, there is another East-West trough extending across Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh region.
This weather system has been lingering on over the region for quite some time. Weather models indicate that it could witness a marginal northward shift during next 48 hours. It will move further away from the mainland of India in deep Arabian Sea.
For the next 2 days, Peninsular India will continue to receive some rainfall. Good showers will be confined to Kerala and Coastal Karnataka. But, the intensity and spread of rainfall will reduce in the interiors of the region.

Andhra Pradesh – Tirumala 43 mm, Peddapuram 27 mm, Perumallapalle 58 mm, Utukuru 33 mm.
Karnataka – Bellary 25 mm, Mangalore 21 mm, Agumbe 12.4 mm, Gadag 4.3.
Kerala – Tavanur 46 mm, Nilambur 10 mm, Kannur 59.3 mm, Kozhikode 51.4 mm, Kochi 7 mm.
Tamil Nadu – Neyyoor 27 mm, Kalavai 37 mm, Chennai 8.2 mm, Perambalur 8 mm, Tiruchirappalli 39.4 mm.
