Summer is here and so is the unrelenting hot weather. India is famous for having unreasonably hot weather and during summers, this hot weather usually turns into intense heatwave conditions in the mid May-June.
But such is definitely not the case during this time of the year. After going through a roller-coaster journey with the mercury levels, heatwave conditions are likely to make a comeback over most parts of North India.
Temperatures around 34-35 degree Celsius is normal during this time of the year for North India. At present the temperatures across the region is near normal but these will change vigorously.
The reason for this jump in mercury can be credited to the change in wind direction. The northerly winds from Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh which was helping the temperatures to be near normal will change.
The winds will come from northwest-west direction which will help the temperatures to increase. As the week progresses, winds will further change direction and come from central Pakistan where the heatwave has already made its home.
This upcoming heatwave will bump up the maximum temperatures across various locations in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh to go reach their highest levels. Temperatures in Delhi and NCR are expected to touch 40 degrees today only and these figures will bump further up as the week progresses.
State like Gujarat is already under the grip of heatwave. Monsoon is still months away to reach North India. People, who are venturing out, or will be spending a lot of time outside, are advised to stay hydrated and take necessary precautions.
