The City of Nizams has remained hot and dry for quite some time now. To such an extent that the day temperatures remained above 40-degree mark, well above the normal limits. This is due to absence of pre-Monsoon rains that pushed the mercury to scale up.
Though isolated light rain and thundershowers occurred at one or two occasions, but it was highly localized. So it did not have much impact on the temperature profile over the region.
On Wednesday, Hyderabad recorded a maximum of 43.2°C which happens to be four notches above the normal limits.
While heatwave like conditions are prevailing over the city, many districts of Telangana are facing heatwave conditions. No relief is expected for now. The city will continue to witness dry and hot weather at least during the next two to three days.
Live status of lightning and thunderstorm over Hyderabad
As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, pre-Monsoon is likely to begin over Hyderabad by May 28-29. During this time, the City of Nawabs could see some isolated thunderstorm activity. But intensification in the rain activity is likely during the first week of June. From June 2, good spell of showers are anticipated over the region.
Temperatures will also subside by 4 to 5 degrees, providing that much needed respite to the Hyderabadis. However, until then the state capital of Telangana will continue to swelter.
