Intense spells of rain and hailstorm in Madhya Pradesh to continue for another 24 hrs

Several districts of Madhya Pradesh, particularly the eastern parts, have received good rain and thundershower activities during the last 24 hours.

In span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, Mandla recorded moderate rainfall activity to the tune of 18 mm, followed by Umaria 8 mm, Jabalpur 5 mm, Seoni 3 mm and Chhindwara 2 mm.

These weather activities have been attributed to a confluence zone extending over parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. Here cold and dry winds from northwest direction are merging with humid southerly winds from Bay of Bengal.

Now, we expect light to moderate rain and thundershowers accompanied with few spells of hailstorm to occur over many parts of the state, especially the eastern parts. Intensity will be more over Northeast Madhya Pradesh.

These scattered rain and thundershower activities will continue for another 24 hours. Thereafter, the rain belt will shift over to Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, paving way for the dry weather conditions over entire Madhya Pradesh.

We expect minimum temperatures to fall over many parts of the state from March 16, due to the commencement of cold winds from north/northwest direction. But this relief would be short lived, as the weather will start warming up from March 17. Thereafter, both day and night temperatures will start witnessing increasing trend.
