The month of October has turned out quite good for Hyderabad in terms of rains. Barring just a few occasions, rains have been lashing the city on all days since the month has started. Hyderabad has been receiving on and off rains and thundershower activities October 9 onward, with one or two dry spells in between.
With this, the city has surpassed its monthly average rainfall quite comfortably. So far, Hyderabad has recorded 134 mm of rain in comparison to monthly mean of 103.6 mm. During the last 24 hours also, Hyderabad has recorded light rain activities.
Moreover, rains are likely to stay put over the city for next few days as well. Although intensity would be light, with one or two short intense spells over Hyderabad.
These rains can be attributed to the twin weather systems prevailing on either side of the coast. A Low Pressure Area over is seen over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, while a Well Marked Low Pressure Area is marked over East Central Arabian Sea. Both the systems have been influencing the weather of Telangana including Hyderabad.
With the system in Bay of Bengal likely to get more marked, we can expect marginal rise in the rain activity. Between October 24 and 26, a few intense spells of rains are likely over the city. A few moderate to heavy spells also cannot be ruled out. Thus, it may lead to water logging and traffic jams over parts of Hyderabad and adjoining areas.
After October 26, the rains will start subsiding. However, on and off light rains will continue over Hyderabad until the end of October. These rains might spill over to the month of November as well.
