The present Western disturbance which is over Jammu and Kashmir has induced cyclonic circulation over Central Pakistan and adjoining Punjab. The trough from this cyclonic circulation is extending to the Eastern part of Uttar Pradesh. Easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal are also feeding moisture over northern plains.

Today on May 10th, moderate to heavy rain and thundershower with strong winds lashed northern districts of Haryana, many parts of Punjab and North West Uttar Pradesh. Light to moderate rains occurred over western districts of Haryana. Isolated pockets of north Rajasthan also receive rain and thundershower.

The trough persists until May 11th over northern plains, thundershower with strong winds are expected to continue over Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, isolated pockets of north Rajasthan, and Delhi. But the intensity of rains will be comparatively less than May 10th.

The Western disturbance will move away, and that trough will also become weak by May 12 leading to a significant decrease in rain activities. But whether will not go completely dry as isolated short spells of rain may continue over northern Plains of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, North Rajasthan, and western districts of Uttar Pradesh.

Although, temperatures will remain above normal over Delhi and some other parts of Northern Plains, heatwave conditions will appear after May 15.
