From severe heatwave to heatwave and finally some rains, the country has seen different shades of weather this April. While the weathermen at Skymet Weather predicts harsh summer this year, the recent weather system bringing in pre-Monsoon rains have bought in some relief from the ongoing rising mercury levels.
The day temperatures have plunged a few notches in the last two–three days across most parts of the country. However, states like Odisha, Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have seen the mercury level rising 3-4 degrees above the normal. But technically, this rise in maximum temperatures are not expected to result in heatwave conditions.
Due to this steep rise in the maximum temperatures, hot and humid weather leading to discomfort level is prevailing over the aforesaid regions.
As per Skymet Weather, the districts of coastal Andhra Pradesh is in close proximity to the Bay of Bengal. Thus, high temperatures and high humidity level will enhance the discomfort level even more.
However, a trough is also seen extending from Bangladesh to South Tamil Nadu across interior Odisha and Telangana. But rains are not yet expected to show up in these regions in the near future. Moreover, due to dry and warm northwesterly winds, temperatures across interior Odisha, Telangana, Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra Pradesh may rise marginally.
Furthermore, this hot and humid weather is expected to continue over these regions for the next 3-4 days. Hence, no respite from the ongoing humid weather is likely in the near future.
