A fresh blow of unseasonal rain has swept parts of Central India in last 24 hours as fairly widespread, moderate rain has been observed in areas including Maharashtra, Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
Places in Maharashtra that have received rain in past 24 hours include Buldhana – 4 mm, Chandrapur – 20 mm, Nagpur – 1.6mm, Nashik – 0.5 mm, and Solapur – 5.9 mm. Chandbali in Odisha received 0.8 mm of rain. Chhattisgarh also received widespread rain that includes Durg with 3.2 mm of rain, Raipur – 0.5 mm and Rajnandgaon 1.8 mm of rain.
The unseasonal rain was also observed in parts of Telangana that include Hyderabad with 1.6 mm, Nizamabad 3.6 mm and Ramagundam with 1.6 mm of rain.
A trough of low pressure from Vidarbha to south Kerala is receiving moisture from Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea that has caused fairly widespread rain in last 24 hours and will continue with the same for next 2 days.
Drop in temperatures
The sudden rain has also caused a drop in day temperatures that have come below normal by 1-2 degrees. According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, more rain is expected in next 24 hours that will lead to a further drop in temperatures of 3-4 degrees. Rain is expected to be intense coupled with hailstorms.
