Infected cases of COVID-19 stands out at 14 in Punjab, Govt. enforces lockdown till March 31

As of now, the state of Punjab has reported 14 cases of COVID-19 so far. And, so the Government of Punjab on Saturday decided to enforcelockdown in the entire state until March 31.

Not only this, but on Saturday itself, 11 more persons tested positive for coronavirus in Punjab taking the total number of confirmed cases of the infection to 14 in the state. As of now, it is the highest single-day jump for reporting positive COVID-19 cases.

Six cases were reported from Nawanshahr, while three reported from Mohali. As of now, in Punjab, a total of 181 samples have been tested, out of which, the reports of 141 persons were found negative. But, the report of 23 persons is still awaited.

The maximum number on Saturday i.e. six cases ofcoronaviruspatients were reported from Nawanshahr town of the state. They are the relatives of the 70-year-old coronavirus positive man who had returned from Germany via Italy and died on Wednesday because of cardiac arrest. A 60-year-old resident of Garhshankar in Hoshiarpur who had come in contact with the 70-year-old man also tested positive.

While, in Mohali, the three persons who have been tested positive on Saturday is a 74-year-old woman, sister of the 69-year-old Mohali-based woman who tested positive on Friday. Another 28-year-old Mohali-based woman who came in contact with Chandigarh-based 23-year-old woman coronavirus patient also tested positive. A 42-year-old Mohali resident, who recently returned from the United Kingdom, also tested positive for COVID-19. He is admitted to a government hospital in Sector-16 in Chandigarh.

Along with all the above-mentioned positive cases ofCOVID-19,a positive case was also reported from Amritsar as a 36-year-old man, recently returned from the UK, and was tested positive. Notably,Punjab's first coronavirus patientwas tracked in Amritsar who had returned from Italy.

However, at present, according to the bulletin, the condition of all COVID-19 positive cases is stable. Meanwhile, the health authorities said all those who came in close contact with the coronavirus patients have been put under quarantine and surveillance.
