After battering East Madhya Pradesh, heavy rains belt has now moved to West Madhya Pradesh. With this, several places like Hoshangabad, Indore, Dhar, Ratlam, Ujjain, Khandwa, Khargone, Betul, and Bhopal are likely to record moderate to heavy rains.
Few places might also record extremely heavy showers during the next 24 hours. According to Skymet Weather, these ongoing heavy rains can be attributed to the well-marked low-pressure area over Madhya Pradesh. Moving in southwest direction, the system which had formed over eastern parts of the state now lies over Central and North Madhya Pradesh.

Not only this, cloud configuration and atmospheric conditions are indicating that the system is getting more marked and is most likely to induce a depression during the next 24 hours.
As a result, moderate to heavy Monsoon rains are likely over West Madhya Pradesh during the next 24 hours. Especially, southwestern parts of the state may see some exceptionally heavy rainfall.

Crop damage looms large
In wake of these rains, the threat of crop damage looms large over the state. Several places where sowing of Kharif crops had already been done are suffering crop damage. Most of the places will have to opt for re-sowing.
According to Agriculture experts, farmers are advised to go for re-sowing for the next one week. And the places where sowing of crops is yet to be done, are also asked till the weather conditions become conducive for the same.
