Indore rainCentral India particularlyChhattisgarh,Madhya PradeshandRajasthanhave received very good rains this Monsoon season so far. According to the data available with Skymet, rainfall in West Madhya Pradesh was surplus by 23% till August 29. Rainfall in many cities of the state have already surpassed the monthly normal.

For instance,Indorehas so far received 335.3 mm of rain against the monthly average of 313.5 mm. And with rain likely to last for two to three days more in the state, the rainfall figures in the city could rise further. Since 2011 this is the second highest rainfall amount recorded in the city in the month of August.

Indore is benefited by both the western arm and the eastern arm of the Southwest Monsoon. When a good system like a low pressure area or a depression forms over the North Arabian Sea it affects Gujarat, southeast Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh in terms of rainfall.

Similarly, when any good system develops in Central Bay of Bengal and tends to move in a westerly direction, it affectsTelangana, Vidarbha and western parts of Madhya Pradesh. This is why cumulative rainfall in Madhya Pradesh during most of the Monsoon seasons is seen to be good, and several places cross their monthly average rainfall.
