Indore has remained dry for quite some time now. In fact, even during May, rains displayed a poor performance. After May 10, not even a single drop of rain was witnessed over the city. Even during the month of June rain gods refused to pay Indore a visit.

However, in a fortunate turn of events, rains have finally lashed Indore. While the city recorded traces of rain on June 17, good rains were witnessed over Indore on June 18. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Indore recorded 8 mm of rain.

The cyclonic circulation which was brewing in the Bay of Bengal has moved inland and is currently over South Coastal Odisha. Due to this system, moist south westerly winds have been reaching up to Madhya Pradesh. Due to this, there was in an increase in the moisture incursion resulting in good rains over many areas of Madhya Pradesh.

The city may receive some more rains during the next 24 to 48 hours. Usually, Southwest Monsoon makes an onset over Madhya Pradesh around June 18. However, a slight delay is expected this year and Monsoon may reach Madhya Pradesh in another week or before.

During the month of June, Indore receives good rains. The monthly average rain for the city stands at 153.2 mm. In almost three weeks, the city has recorded a mere 8 mm of rain. Hopefully, rains will increase over the city and rain figures will at least come close to the monthly average.
