As per Skymet Weather, the reason for these subdued rains can be attributed to the absence of any significant weather system. At present, the axis of Monsoon trough is running along the foothills. Due to this, westerly north westerly winds are blowing over these states.

However, a feeble trough is seen extending from Jharkhand to Tamil Nadu across South Chhattisgarh and Telangana. Due to this weather system, we expect light to moderate rains at few places over South Chhattisgarh and over Southeast Madhya Pradesh.

Places like Jagdalpur, Rajnandgaon, Bastar, Durg in Chhattisgarh and Chindwara, Hoshangabad, Betul, Seoni, Indore, Dhar in Madhya Pradesh may receive light rains during the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, subdued rainfall activities will continue over rest parts for the next four to five days. In fact, weather of northern parts of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh will remain mainly dry.  With this, rain deficiency will increase over these regions.
