All hell broke loose in India, as mercury in Phalodi, Rajasthan shattered all the temperature records on Thursday. The desert town recorded maximum temperature of 51°C, which is the highest day maximum ever recorded in the country.

Prior to this, all-time highest day temperature record stood at 50.6°C recorded in 1956 at Alwar, another city in Rajasthan.

Phalodi has been the hottest city in the country for past several days. On Wednesday too, the town had recorded 50.5°C, fallen short by just 0.1 degree from making the history. With this, Phalodi has fallen under the ambit of very severe heatwave, making it absolutely unbearable place to live.

Weathermen have already issued highest red alert for the entire state, where temperatures over most of the places are settling between 46°C and 50°C.

Further Skymet Weather predicts, that worst is not over yet. We don’t foresee any relief from the scorching heat during next 3-4 days.

Reason for the extreme hot weather

All blame for the abnormally hot weather conditions can be attributed to Pakistan, which is witnessing even hotter weather. According to Skymet Weather, advection of sizzling hot and dry northwesterly winds from Pakistan are reaching up to northwestern plains of India. The weather has been dry for last many days paving way increase in sun radiations, which in turn leads to increase in day maximums.

Moreover, geographical features of Rajasthan make the state prone to blistering hot weather. There are lot of dust particles available in the atmosphere, which do not let the radiation to escape and thus captivating the heat. Under these circumstances, earth tends to absorb more heat than usual.

North India has been suffering from the withering hot weather since past ten days due to the absence of any significant weather activity. Monsoon is eagerly awaited, as above normal rainfall is forecasted by Skymet Weather, which will bring rainfall across India and bringing the much-needed relief from severe hot weather in India.
