Due to adverse weather conditions, the pilgrimage to the Kedarnath shrine had to be suspended due to the harsh weather conditions, and to make matters worse, a portion of the glacier broke away, causing a blockade on the trek route. However, amidst this chaos, it is a relief to know that the State Disaster Response Force personnel were able to rescue four Nepali porters who were stranded on the route. SDRF head constable Santosh Rawat confirmed that the porters were unharmed and safely rescued.
The state of Uttarakhand will continue to see adverse weather conditions. Another Western Disturbance is approaching the Northern Mountains. A little break is likely in between but even tomorrow, isolated activity will continue
From May 6th, weather activity will increase over the hilly state of Uttarakhand with the possibility of rain and snow over the region. The possibility of hailstorms also cannot be ruled out. The largest clearance will come around the 10th or later.
