Presently, a Western Disturbance is seen over North Jammu and Kashmir. This is bringing along scattered light to moderate rain and snow over Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Talking about the forecast, another fresh Western Disturbance is going to affect Western Himalayas around March 2. Due to this we expect rain and snow to commence over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on March 2. This will continue until March 4, with an increased intensity on March 3. One or two heavy spells are also expected at a few places. Inclement weather will prevail over the trio states.
Chances of avalanche, roadblocks and landslides cannot be ruled out after one after the other rain and snow spell. Such weather is likely to affect the operations amidst the ongoing Indo-Pak unrest.
Looking at the rainfall figures for this year, presently all the three states are showing a good rainfall performance which is very rare. After making a late start, winter rains and snow over the three hilly states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are currently in good shape. Just yesterday we covered that at present, there is high probability of winter rainfall ending on a record note.
