Incessant rains lash Kolkata as Monsoon to arrive soon

Kolkata weather has remained cloudy since early morning hours. At around 8:30 am, the city of joy began to witness rains. These Pre-Monsoon rains continued for about an hour and stopped at around 9:30 am. Thereafter, no weather activity was observed until noon.

During the afternoon hours, at around 12:00 pm, cloudy sky conditions and thunderstorm activity began over Kolkata resulting in pleasant weather conditions. These thunderstorm continued for about an hour. Since the morning hours, weather conditions restricted the rise of temperatures.

However, at around 1:30 pm, the weather conditions became clear resulting in the rise in temperatures. Thus, during this time, the maximum settled at a good 34 degree Celsius. Thundershowers once again lashed Kolkata at 2:30 pm and continued for quite some time.

Due to these weather conditions, the maximum witnessed a fall of about 4 degrees. Currently, the maximum temperature has dropped to 30 degrees. Pre-Monsoon rains accompanied with thunder continues over the city of joy.

These rains can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation, which is currently over Bihar and adjoining West Bengal. Also, a trough is extending from this system up to North Bay of Bengal across Odisha and West Bengal.

On and off Pre-Monsoon rains will continue over Kolkata during the next few days. Thereafter, Southwest Monsoon will make an onset over the city of joy resulting in the commencement of Monsoon rains in Kolkata.
