Torrential Monsoon rains have wreaked havoc in Madhya Pradesh, where at least 15 people have been reported dead since Friday across the state.

Three days of continuous rains have caused flooding and devastation, particularly in Sagar, Rewa, Sidhi, Chattarpur, Panna, Katni, Damoh and Satna districts. Incessant rains have affected Vindhya and Bundelkhand regions of Madhya Pradesh. Major rivers and streams like Son, Ken and Tamas are flowing above the danger mark.

According to media reports, more than 4000 people from Satna and over 1500 people have been rescued from Rewa so far.

Ujjain received a whopping 165 mm of rainfall. In span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Indore also received 59 mm of rainfall, Bhopal 29 mm, Pachmarhi received 28 mm of rainfall, Hoshangabad 25 mm and Guna 20 mm of rainfall.

As of now, the depression over Northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Rajasthan is affecting weather conditions over the state. The axis of Monsoon trough is also passing through Anupgarh, Sawai Madhopur, the center of the depression, Rewa, Daltonganj, and Bankura and through the low pressure area over North Bay of Bengal.

The depression is likely to become a well-marked low pressure area in the next 12-24 hours. It will gradually weaken and become insignificant. However, Madhya Pradesh will continue to receive some rains during next 24 hours.
