In central India, Madhya Pradesh is the best performing state in terms of rainfall. At present, West Madhya Pradesh is 42% rainfall surplus whereas East Madhya Pradesh is rainfall surplus by 34%.

During the month of August, successive weather systems which originated over Northwest Bay of Bengal had given very good rainfall over entire state. These weather systems moved westwards giving good rains over Chhattisgarh and later giving good rains over entire Madhya Pradesh.

These successive weather systems were so intense that extremely heavy rainfall over the state led to flooding in many districts of the state. But now the intensity of rain has decreased since last 2-3 days. However, light to moderate rain is still going on.

During last 24 hours, most of the districts of Madhya Pradesh recorded light to moderate rain. Rainfall figures over various places are mentioned below:

Now, West Madhya Pradesh will get good rain for next 24 hours, due to a low pressure area over Northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Rajasthan. The next episode of rain will begin from August 26, & will continue for 2-3 days. That time a cyclonic circulation is expected to form over West central Bay of Bengal, which will move inland giving good rains over Central India including Madhya Pradesh.
