Torrential rains lashed the southern tip of Kerala and Tamil Nadu as Cyclone Ockhi continued its path towards the Southeast Arabian Sea. While its journey, it gave extremely heavy rains over Kanyakumari and Thiruvananthapuram in the last 24 hours.
So much so that these heavy have even claimed 8 lives and reportedly 200 fishermen went missing in the coastal regions of Kerala. The rains also uprooted several trees and resulted in power failures along with other property destructions.

Now, Cyclone Ockhi has further intensified into a severe cyclonic storm and is presently moving in a west-northwest direction with a speed of about 17 kmph. At present, the system is centered around 105 km north-northeast of Minicoy and 280 km southeast of Amini Divi in Lakshadweep.
Since this cyclonic storm is moving towards Lakshadweep, it is most likely to batter the Island with extremely heavy showers for the next 24 hours, reducing thereafter.
