Thick of winters has gripped Delhi-NCR as temperatures dropped significantly on Tuesday. Icy cold winds from snow-clad Himalayas have been blowing across the national capital since Monday night pulling both maximum and minimum temperatures several notches below normal.
Minimum temperatures dropped to 6°C degrees today from 8.6°C on Monday and maximum temperatures have refused to increase since then. At 10 am, temperature was hovering around 8°C, leading to bone-chilling weather.
Moreover, weather conditions are not indicating any significant rise in the temperatures during rest of the day as well.
According to Skymet Weather, strong surface winds are blowing over entire northern plains, which did not formation of fog. But due to lifting of ground fog, upper haze and low clouds are seen over entire northern plains including Delhi-NCR.
In wake of this, we expect day temperatures to be below normal throughout the day. Though brief sunshine can be expected during afternoon hours but it will not have any impact on freezing weather conditions.
Further, no major change is likely in the temperature profile as mercury is not likely to rise in another 24 hours as well.
Cold day conditions may also grip parts of Delhi-NCR during the next 24 to 48 hours. Cold day conditions are declared when day maximums settle below 16°C.
