Hyderabad is prone to heat wave during May, with temperatures soaring to new levels everyday. On May 26, mercury touched the mark of 43.4°C.
May is undoubtedly the hottest month for the city of Hyderabad. Although it is also the month for peak pre-Monsoon activities but since these showers take place in evening they do not give any respite from hot weather.
For the coming three to four days, thunderstorm activities will be seen in the city which would be mild in nature with no major downpours as such. These activities will be in the wake of a semi-permanent trough which is extending from Vidarbha till the Comorin area. During day, the temperatures will be high, and this heat would act as a trigger and would breakdown in the form of thundershowers. Currently, the temperatures are above normal by three to four degrees.
The normal onset date for Monsoon to reach Hyderabad is June 5 and once the Monsoon arrives the weather over here becomes much more pleasant. In the month of June, the average temperature is generally around 40°C and with rains mercury sees a dip and settles at 35°C in June. While, in July the normals are generally around 30°C. Few days before the activity, the flavour of Monsoon can be seen in the city as the temperatures drop. However, this time the Monsoon might not make it on time, a delay is foreseen. As per the experts, mercury touching the mark of 40°C can even spill into the month of June.
