February 7, 2018 10:36 AM | Skymet Weather Team

The winter season spanning from December to February is a dry period for Hyderabad wherein, the city usually does not record a double-digit rainfall figure. The city usually accounts for 9.3 mm and 9.2 mm of rains during the month of January and February respectively. Meanwhile, December is the leanest period for the capital of Telangana in terms of rainfall as the rainfall amount stands at a mere 4.9 mm.

In fact, Hyderabad has not seen rains for the last three consecutive years in February. The city of Nizams has not proven the previous records wrong as the winter months have so far remained dry for the city.

The maximums during all the three winter months for the city also settle in late 20’s and early 30’s with February being the warmest. However, now, Skymet Weather predicts the end of the dry spell for the capital city of the youngest state of the country.

As per Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the Konkan and Goa region. The winds blowing from the Bay of Bengal over South Interior Peninsula would make a confluence zone over the area. This weather system will be responsible for giving rains over Hyderabad.

Some rains are anticipated to occur over the city by February 10 and 11. As these rains would be light in nature and for a shorter duration, these would not bring in many changes in the temperature profile.
