Hyderabad has not been fortunate enough to witness rains as dry weather has been prevailing in the city from almost a month. Though the fag end of April did bring some rains over the capital city of Telangana but the month of May kick-started with a dry spell.
However, during the last 48 hours, some light traces of rains occurred over the ‘city of nawabs’ but good rains have till date remained far from pouring over. On account of these isolated light showers, the temperatures have also dropped by two to three degrees and at present also, they are marginally below normal.
As per Skymet Weather, a trough is seen extending from central parts of Uttar Pradesh across Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha region in Maharashtra and Telangana towards Interior Karnataka. In the wake of this weather system, isolated thunderstorm activities are expected to occur in parts of Telangana during the next 24 hours. These rains are likely to continue until May 10
Some thundershowers and thunderstorm activities are expected to show up in Hyderabad district as well. Temperature is also predicted to remain near normal and a marginal relief is possible during the late afternoon and evening hours. Even if the rains spare Hyderabad, then also, the rainfall in the nearby regions will lead to cooling down the temperatures in Hyderabad.
As these are pre-Monsoon rains, therefore, the spread and duration of the rains will be limited and will cover a smaller area lasting for an hour or so.
However, even after these rains, not much impact is seen on the monthly average rainfall of the city which stands at 31.7 mm while till date, it has only managed to see 0.2 mm of traces.
