Hyderabad to see some more rains, yet no relief in offing

April 27, 2016 12:22 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Pre-Monsoon rain activity had finally made an appearance over Hyderabad on Tuesday. Moreover, we can expect some more rain during next 48 hours.

In wake of the activity, both maximum and minimum temperatures took a dip of around two degrees. However, they continued to be above normal. On Tuesday, day maximum settled at 42.2°C, while night temperatures were at 27.6°C.

Though the passing showers, thunderstorm and drop in temperature paved in some temporary relief from the blazing heat, we do not expect some significant change in the weather conditions.

According to Skymet Weather, the activity can be attributed to the presence of the wind discontinuity over Telangana including Hyderabad. Weather conditions are still favourable for some more pre-Monsoon showers in span of next two days.

However, weathermen predict that these on and off rains will not be able to bring respite from ongoing hot weather conditions.

Hyderabad started its day with a clear sky on Wednesday morning after which the mercury soared to 36°C at 11 am and with this, we expect day temperature to settle around 40°C.

This year, the capital city of Hyderabad has witnessed maximum temperatures above 39°C for the entire April, out of which 22 days surpassed 40°C. Mercury peaked at 43°C on two occasions of April 13 and April 22, which is highest in last 10 years. This was almost close to the all-time high maximum temperature 43.1°C recorded on April 30, 1973. So far, the city has recorded mere 9 mm of rain against the monthly average rainfall of 22 mm.
