Hyderabad, the capital city of Telangana and a prominent center of technical industry is a part of Deccan Plateau in South Peninsula. At an average elevation of 542 metres, much of Hyderabad is situated on the hilly terrain, around artificial lakes , including Hussain Sagar. The city observe extreme heat during April and May and turn pleasant thereafter with the arrival of Monsoon.
Located on the banks of Musi river, the city of pearls is ideally located between the Western Ghats and Deccan Plateau. Most cities of Telangana like Nizamabad, Adilabad, Ramagundam, Medak and Hyderabad have an average maximum temperature of about 38 degrees in April. Except Hyderabad all other cities have already breached the mark of 40 degrees this season. It climbs further in May to clock 39 degrees or above at most places. Hyderabad has exceeded 40 degrees mark in April for the last 11 years from 2009 to 2019. Also on two occasions, it recorded maximum of 43 degrees in 2016 and 2017.
April 2019 was one of the hottest year on record when the maximum temperature exceeded 40 degrees on 13 days, the highest in the last 10 years. However, April 2020 has been mild so far and is yet to record 40 degrees, even after having crossed over to the second half of the month. The city has recorded 39.4 degrees today, the highest of the season so far. It is likely to touch 40deg anytime soon in the next 2-3 days. The city is also expected to receive welcome Pre Monsoon showers on the 19th and 20th April. These showers are going to be patchy and may not provide any big relief from the sizzling heat.
