Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana have remained dry for quite some time now. In fact, from June 13 until June 17, not even a single drop of rain was recorded over the entire state. Residents of the region have desperately been waiting for a spell of good rains and of course the onset of Southwest Monsoon over the state.
However, from 8:30 am on Saturday, Hyderabad has recorded some rains. For instance, Hyderabad airport has recorded 3 mm of rain during this time. Also, Ramagundam has received 1 mm of rain.
Usually, Southwest Monsoon makes its onset over Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana at around June 6. However, this year, Monsoon rains began in the city only from June 18.
Currently, the cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal has moved inland. Due to this system, rains are likely to pick up pace over Hyderabad as well as other parts of Telangana during the next 24 hours.
Until now, Monsoon has reached Vidarbha, covered entire Telangana, Andhra Pradesh West Bengal, and some parts of Jharkhand, Odisha and Bihar.
