Southwest Monsoon made an onset over Hyderabad a while ago. However, rains have not yet displayed a power packed performance. The city was recording on and off light rains but heavy rainfall was far out of reach.
However, during the past couple of days, Hyderabad rains have been keeping the residents. Just about a day ago on June 25, the city received 37 mm of rain. While Hyderabad remained dry on June 26, heavy Monsoon showers were once again witnessed over the city.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Hyderabad recorded a whopping 45 mm of rain which happens to be the highest 24-hour rain received in June. With this, Hyderabad has finally surpassed its monthly average rains.
So far, Hyderabad has recorded 123.7 mm rain against the monthly average rain of 111 mm. These rains can be attributed to the low-pressure area over Bay of Bengal which is currently marked off the Odisha Coast adjoining North Andhra Coast.
This system is expected to move inland soon which is why more good showers are possible over the capital city of Telangana. Good rains are expected to occur over the city during the next 24 to 48 hours.
