Hyderabad rains remained light in nature throughout the month of July. In fact, since the first day of July, the city has been receiving light rainfall. However, heavy rains have remained absent from the capital city of Telangana for quite some time now.

The last time Hyderabad received some substantial amount of rain was on June 28, when 45 mm of rainfall was received. However, tides have taken a fortunate turn and good rains have made a comeback over Hyderabad.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Hyderabad has received a good 47 mm of rainfall, which is the first good spell of Monsoon rains in the month of July. These rains can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which has formed over west-central Bay of Bengal.

The city is expected to receive some rains during the next 24 hours as well, but of reduced intensity as the circulation is expected to move away from the region. Thereafter, rainfall activity will once again pick up pace on July 21.

So far in the month of July, Hyderabad has received 73 mm of rainfall against its monthly average of 179.2 mm of rain. The rainfall performance in Hyderabad this month is much better as compared to July 2015. During the month of July last year, the city had recorded a mere 38.4 mm of rainfall.
