Active Monsoon conditions have been prevailing over Telangana including Hyderabad since the last 24 hours. As a result, many parts of the state have recorded light to moderate and thundershowers.
At present, also intense lightning and thunderclouds can be seen over Telangana. With this, fresh spell of Monsoon rains is likely to many areas anytime now. In fact, Hyderabad and Nizamabad have already started reporting rains.

According to Skymet Weather, these rains and thundershowers can be attributed to the fresh Monsoon surge on account of the off-shore trough along the West Coast. As the trough the gets more marked, it pulls humid winds from Bay of Bengal.
As a result, humid winds have been blowing over Hyderabad and adjoining areas, making weather conditions conducive for rains.
In span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Adilabad recorded 36 mm of rain, Khammam 31 mm, Nizamabad 26 mm, Ramagundam 10 mm and Hyderabad 4.7 mm.

Weathermen predict that conditions will remain favourable for rain and thundershowers of varying intensity to continue for another 24 hours as well.
Hyderabad has already surpassed its monthly average rainfall long ago. Till now, the city has recorded 202 mm of rain in comparison to its monthly average rainfall of 111.2.
With this, Hyderabad is rain surplus by 62% as on June 27, while Telangana is surplus by 54%.
