Hyderabad gets hot as Cyclone Roanu fades away

Hyderabad weather had turned pleasant just about three days ago. The residents of the Char Minar city had heaved a sigh of relief after mercury dropped to a good 33 degrees on May 19.

The weather conditions can be attributed to the Cyclone Roanu which gave the state of Telangana that much needed respite from the prevailing heatwave conditions. Before the weather system started to affect the Indian coast, hot winds coming from the land were resulting in increased temperatures.

When Cyclone Roanu was lingering along the East coast, warm and humid winds from the Bay of Bengal were reaching Telangana resulting in cloud formation. Though the quantum of rain was not very high, due to the reversal of wins, temperatures witnessed a significant drop.

However, after the passage of the cyclonic storm, the normal pattern of northwesterly-westerly winds have commenced over Telangana. Due to these hot and dry winds, the mercury has once again soared over Hyderabad. In fact, currently, the maximum in Hyderabad is settling at 42 degree Celsius, which is nine degrees more than that on May 19.

These conditions are expected to prevail over Hyderabad for a few more days. Thereafter, around May 28 and 29, Pre-Monsoon showers will once again make a comeback over Hyderabad resulting in a drop in temperatures.
