The last 48 hours were a boon for Hyderabad that was reeling under dry and warm weather conditions from the last 5-6 days. In fact, the city recorded a whopping 90 mm of rains on September 13 which in the last 24 hours reduced to 11 mm.

The other regions of Telangana that have recorded good rains include Adilabad 53 mm, Nizamabad 6 mm, and Mahbubnagar that recorded 2 mm of light spells.

As per Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation is expected to develop over South Chhattisgarh and adjoining Vidarbha and Madhya Maharashtra. This cyclonic circulation is likely to persist over the central parts of the country. In the wake of this, moderate to strong winds from the Bay of Bengal will continue to feed moisture over many parts of Chhattisgarh and Telangana.

Due to the aforesaid weather system, light to moderate showers is likely to continue over the northern parts of Telangana. Hyderabad will also witness some moderate spells for the next 2-3 days. Moreover, South Telangana adjacent to Rayalaseema will remain almost dry but light rains at a few places cannot be ruled out. Though these on and off rains will not be continuous in nature.

The average monthly rainfall for Hyderabad stands at 132.9 mm and as of now, the ‘city of Nizams’ has recorded 103.8 mm of rains. Thus, with almost half the month left, it is still worth waiting if the capital of the youngest state of the country will be able to meet its monthly target.
