Hurricane Laura batters Louisiana

Hurricane Laura struck Louisiana as one of the most powerful storms in the history of the United States. The Cat-4 Hurricane slammed Louisiana with winds in excess of 240kmh nearly missing the scale of Cat-5 by a whisker. The storms packed with winds of 254kmh or more are rated as Cat-5. The monster cut a huge swath of devastation across Southern Louisiana leaving at least 6 people killed.

The hurricane left hundreds without power and water in the wake. The roofs were ripped off and walls collapsed with howling winds. The United States gas and oil was severely disrupted by the Hurricane which has resulted in localized inundation and flash floods.

Notwithstanding the severity of the storm , the damage is not as much as it was forecast possibly because of reckless evacuation and better preparedness. As the Hurricane battered cities, NOAA plane flies through it to capture rare images. The storm has since weakened to a tropical depression.

President Donald Trump is likely to visit the Gulf Coast this weekend to survey the destruction and assess damage from one of the fiercest hurricanes.
