The Cyclonic Storm Mora made a landfall over the Bangladesh coast near Chittagong on early Tuesday morning. As per Skymet Weather, Cyclone Mora had hit the coast between the Cox’s Bazar and the port of Chittagong early at around 7.00 am today.
From uprooting of trees to power failure, the storm packed up at a speed of 117 kmph, badly affecting the low-lying areas. On account of the cyclone, nearly 300,000 people residing in the low-lying areas were evacuated and moved to safer places across 400 shelter home.

The shelter areas included schools and other safe buildings in 17 coastal districts. In fact, almost 3800 relief centres were also organised ahead of the storm.
It was after the Cyclone made a landfall that Bangladesh has raised a number 10 danger weather warning, which is the highest weather danger alert. Though reports of any casualties have not been reported so far, several properties including huts and kutcha houses were damaged.
Sea operations across the country’s main two seaports in Chittagong and Mongla have been affected badly and are on a halt. The air traffic also faced delays and flight operations across the Cox's Bazar and Chittagong's Shah Amanat International Airport are expected to remain suspended until at least 2 pm (local time) today.
Meanwhile, heavy rainfall warning along with strong gusty winds has also been issued in India in parts of West Bengal and northeastern states.
