Humid weather to persist over Delhi; Rains may follow soon

Delhi witnessed a fairly good amount of rain for a couple of hours on the morning of July 20. The Monsoon rains gave some relief from the sultry weather, but the relief from the rains was only for a short duration as the rains have once again vanished from the capital and mercury level has risen up.

As per Skymet Weather, warm and humid weather is likely to persist over Delhi for the next few days. The reduction in the Monsoon rain activities can be attributed to the southwards shift of the axis of Monsoon trough which is extending from Gujarat to Bay of Bengal across Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and West Bengal.

This trough is expected to remain in South of Delhi for another few days. Therefore we do not expect the Monsoon pattern rains for the next few days over Delhi. As humidity is increasing over the city and moist humid easterly winds are blowing over the city.

Therefore the possibility of development of thunderclouds cannot be ruled out which may give thundershower activities in some areas for a short duration. If isolated short spells of rain occur then relief from the ongoing sultry weather can be expected over the capital city.
