How overflowing Ganga during Bihar floods caused immense damage

Bihar FloodsBihar floods have wreaked havoc over the state causing immense damage to both life and property. Several districts of the state were affected, scores of lives were lost and many people were left homeless.

On Friday, 14 more people lost their lives in the state taking the death toll to a massive 149. As per a report by the Disaster Management Department, Bihar floods have so far affected at least 32 lakh people in over 2000 villages which come under 553 panchayats.

The overflowing Ganga River, the primal source of the massive flooding has been showing a receding trend. However, till date it continues to spate in places including Gandhi Ghat, Digha Ghat, Kahalgaon, Hathidah, and Bhagalpur.

Now, weather conditions are likely to remain dry over the region for the next few days. Thus, due to the absence of rains, river water will further recede. Very soon, the situation is expected to improve to quite an extent.
